AUCHWITZ: WHAT REMAINS
Like so many before me — and hopefully many after — I spent a day at Auschwitz-Birkenau. Then I left. But the weight of it didn’t.
This isn’t photojournalism. It isn’t art. These images are part of how I tried to process what I saw. A quiet way of bearing witness — not to interpret, not to explain, just to acknowledge.
The place was full of people. And that was good. It means they’re still coming. Still seeing. Still remembering.
But the photos are still. Because that’s how I saw it.
Shot in Cinemascope (2.35:1), the wide frame became a form of respect — a way to hold space. For absence. For memory. For those who are no longer here, and those who carry their stories forward.
This place… it’s a testimony. Not just to what happened — but to what must not happen again.
We don’t need to beautify it. We just need to look. And understand.
