This weekend, something big went down in the southern part of Jutland — a major short film production near Kolding.
I wish I could say I was part of it. That I had my hands in the creative mix of what might just become one of the best short films produced in Denmark in a long while. The story is strong. The team is ambitious, skilled, and all-in.
And the gear?
Well, let’s just say they went all out — lights, cameras, lenses, sound setups — the full package.
Which is where I (sort of) sneak in a little credit… because I lent them quite a bit of gear. So maybe I deserve a sliver of glory?
No, not really. And that’s kind of the point.
It’s easy to think, “But aren’t they your competitors?”
Sure. Some of them run their own small production companies. We’re technically competing in the same space.
But here’s the thing: they chose to come together to make something great. They pulled resources, they shared tools, they showed up for each other.
And truth is — we all do that. On commercial gigs too.
We borrow from each other. We help each other out.
No invoices. No drama. Just trust and mutual respect.
I’ve never really believed in guarding your gear — or your knowledge — like trade secrets. We rarely fight for the same clients anyway. This industry runs on relationships, not rivalry.
So if my friend Torsten needs a lens for his shoot, he gets it. Because next time I’m missing something, I know I can call him too.
